The antenna is the most crucial and fundamental component of any amateur radio and radio frequency communication system. No matter how advanced or powerful a radio transceiver is, effective communication is impossible without a properly designed and tuned antenna. Recognizing this core principle, the Nepal Amateur Radio Club (NARC) organized a hands-on "Antenna Building Workshop" aimed at deepening the technical knowledge, practical antenna design skills, and technical self-reliance of ham radio operators.
During the workshop, participants received comprehensive practical training on the fundamentals, design, assembly, and SWR tuning of both VHF/UHF and HF antennas.
A major highlight of the workshop was the real-world operational testing: participants connected their newly built homemade antennas to HF (High Frequency) radio transceivers and successfully established two-way radio contacts (QSO) with various local and international stations.
Building technical self-reliance, enhancing frequency literacy, and ensuring readiness for emergency communication by enabling operators to build and tune their own antennas were the primary objectives achieved during this workshop.
NARC expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Maheshchandra (9N1KM) for his generous sponsorship and continuous support in advancing amateur radio in Nepal. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all participants and members whose active involvement made this event a resounding success.
